Shelter Referrals

Through Case Management clients may receive referrals to emergency or transitional shelter as available and as appropriate. The primary agencies to which we refer are Arcata Night Shelter for emergency shelter, and to Arcata House for transitional shelter. Call Arcata Service Center for more information.

Emergency Weather Shelter

Extreme Weather Shelter is an as-needed services coordination program designed for individuals that have no access to adequate shelter during nights when severe weather is forecast. Severe weather may be temperatures falling below 32°F, when there is sustained gale force or higher winds expected or the wind chill factor is predicted to fall to 32°F or lower , or when torrential rains are expected. The service is a partnership between Arcata Endeavor (AE) and the Humboldt All Faith Partnership (HAFP) and four local churches. This service prevents overuse of medical facilities for the attendant health and/or safety problems that may be caused by exposure to extreme weather for any duration of time, such as over night.
